Therapy for Adolescents
Therapy for Adolescents
Adolescents may find it difficult to both identify and verbalize their feelings. They are often overwhelmed and even confused by the seeming onslaught of complex feelings that come as they move toward adulthood. The goal of therapy with an adolescent is to help a teenager learn to express his/her needs and wants in a productive way. When a teenager understands how to express himself in a productive way positive behavioral and emotional changes occur as well as improved relationships with parents and peers.
Therapy with an adolescent often provides your teenager with:
- A safe place to explore his/her feelings
- Solid sense of self
- Tools and skills to better combat depression and anxiety
- Ability to self soothe using healthy means
- Better communication skills
- Increased ability to cope with peer pressure and social situations
- Improved relationship with parents
